Summer White is Here

Posted by daa at 7:08 PM
Now that 100 Days of Summer are finally here, it’s time to revisit those summer whites!
If you’re seeking to add some white options to your wardrobe, check out Oak73. The brand launched for Spring 14 by Matt Dunne, formerly of Burch Creative Capital, to provide style-driven, ready to wear and accessories at a competitive price ($25-$290) while also eliminating waste (purchasing excess fabrics that would normally go to waste) and supporting American jobs by producing 100% of the collection in the US (75% in NYC).

Oak73 Launches

The NYC‐based clothing and accessories brand Oak73 launched for Spring 14 available exclusively online at Oak73.com.  The debut collection features print‐driven women’s clothing and accessories with plans to roll out a complete lifestyle line including menswear and home goods. Tapping into the hot topic of “on‐shoring,” Oak73 products are made entirely in the USA, mostly sourced and produced in NYC.

Founder Matthew Dunne has put his extensive experience in art direction, graphic design and fashion design to good use with the launch of this exciting new brand. After studying at the Art Institute of Chicago and graduating from the University of Michigan, Dunne cut his teeth at Ralph Lauren, Isaac Mizrahi, J. Mendel, The Row, Carolina Herrera and Michael Kors. He went on to become the personal illustrator of Chris Burch at Burch Creative Capital and played an instrumental role in design and development for C. Wonder.

Matthew Dunne’s philosophy for Oak 73 is simple. Create a fashion‐forward, premium quality American-made product and offer it directly to consumers (i.e. without wholesalers) at less than standard retail prices. The production stays in the USA, and the customer reaps the rewards of high style at value pricing. Selling direct to the consumer with no wholesale middle‐man allows consumers to enjoy a minimum of 25% savings, not sometimes, all the time. Dunne’s strong relationships with fabric sellers allows him to source overages of quality designer fabrics, making his selections with an emphasis on color and bold prints such as florals, animal prints, stripes and more. In addition, limited fabric quantities translate into limited production quantities, which means that customers get a unique, almost one‐of‐a‐kind novelty item at a fabulous price. What’s more, the site will offer a notification feature that will alert customers when an item is close to selling out.

In an effort to connect with customers in a meaningful way, Oak73 will engage the consumer in the design process through social media.  The brand will place a premium on customer feedback and will create product based on direct demand offering a real time response rather than relying solely on trend forecasting.

OAK: Original. American. Kind.
