Reducing the Textile Industry Environmental Footprint

Posted by daa at 3:59 AM
Sourcing at MAGIC will focus on Eco Sustainable Denim Manufacturing and Denim Trends

There is huge interest in conserving resources and reducing the textile industry’s environmental footprint. Most importantly, the use of water, energy, and chemicals (WEC) in textile processing is an area where technological advances offer big savings in resources and environmental benefits. See Cotton Inc report.

In cotton textile processing (the leading material used for DENIM), dyeing and finishing have the largest WEC requirements and offer the greatest scope for reductions. The cotton textile industry can reduce its WEC environmental footprint at least 50% by employing technologies currently used in modern plants.

SOURCING at MAGIC’s “ALL ABOUT DENIM” area will showcase new technologies, washes and innovations in denim and allow attendees to meet with suppliers from fiber to fabric to finished garments and we’ll highlight importance of ECO SUSTAINABILITY!   The area will include the leading companies from around the world representing the entire supply chain for denim in one location.  Come and see:

  • An installation by Jeanologia that will illustrate the various washes in eco sustainable denim manufacturing such as:
    • E-soft: the zero discharge technology –  Waterless Eflow treated denim and knits for softness, easy care or water repellency
